4 Steps to Keep Your Feet Happy

Posted on 13th Apr 2017 Categories: Fashion

We all tend to take our feet for granted. However, what we don't realise is that our feet are one of the most used and abused parts of our body, constantly taking the impact of our body weight with every step we take…and that’s 5000 to 7000 a day on average.

Or if you’re anything like me, they are there to parade your ever expanding shoe collection. I’m not sure they love being jammed into pointed toe stilettos and elevated to unnatural heights though...

Therefore, look after your feet and treat them right. Here are a few tips on how to take care of them and make them happy:

A Daily Wash

Our feet tend to sweat more than other parts of our body and are prone to harbouring bacteria that create smell. So, make a habit of washing your feet daily using warm water (never hot) and gentle soap. And don’t forget to get in between those toes! Do this before going to bed – you don’t want to bring all that dirt into your bed!

Keep Them Dry

Foot fungus thrives in moist conditions. Therefore, make sure to dry your feet properly after washing them, especially in between the toes. Some people even alternate shoes daily (I’d suggest a different pair for every day of the week, a valid reason for possessing so many pairs) in order to give them a chance to air out and dry!

Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise

Keep your feet soft by moisturising them daily. In the dry winter months, you may want to do this several times a day. Regular creams and lotions are fine - there is no need for fancy stuff!

Show Some Love

Every now and then, give your feet a treat and show them some love. You can surprise them with a relaxing pedicure spa treatment, or why not treat them to a pair of the softest Mongolian Cashmere or Australian Merino Wool socks, right here from House of Cheviot!

Love your feet. Keep them happy.
