Ashley’s Autumn Must-Haves
Autumn: what does it mean to you? Perhaps you love the crunch of the orange and red leaves that carpet the country lanes, the beautiful sunsets at the end of a cold autumnal day or cosy nights in front of the log burner with a mug of hot chocolate.
For me autumn is the season I look forward to most. Why? It means forcing my summer dresses and sandals to take the annual walk of shame into the depths of my wardrobe and getting my jumpers, boots and coats out of retirement. But whilst the cold weather can feel a little depressing it does mean I’m able to have more outfit variety. An excuse to shop! As a self-confessed ‘shopaholic’ nothing gives me more pleasure than the moment my fingers curl round the handles of a bag in a store or hearing the ping of a ‘thank you for your order’ email. I’m ready to invest my money and just like Carrie (unfortunately it’s the only thing I have in common with Ms Bradshaw!), I like my money right where I can see it… sitting on my shoe rack and hanging in my wardrobe!
But what will I be purchasing this season? Country clothing is more popular than ever thanks to brands like Holland Cooper and Fairfax & Favour. Gone are the days of unflattering tweed skirts, 200 denier tights and old-fashioned brogues. Say hello to chic, tailored and colourful pieces that will stand the test of time. I’ve chosen 5 key items that will take me (and you) from autumn through to 2023 in style.
Chiltern Cape (Bourbon Tweed) Holland Cooper

A stunning homage to Holland Cooper’s rich country heritage, the Chiltern Cape is designed with a relaxed fit silhouette, is fully lined, and trimmed with a luxurious lambswool collar.
Style tip: Drape over a cable knit and slim fit jeans for a casual look. Add Lady Rannoch socks and wrist warmers for a pop of colour and extra warmth.
Wool Fairisle Sleeveless Cardigan (Grey) Brora

Nostalgic (could this be any cooler? Serious Chandler Bing vibes…) yet contemporary, this wonderfully quirky sleeveless button down is perfect for layering during the colder months.
Style tip: Wear over a shirt with a standout collar and pair with high waisted, wide legged cords, chunky boots and our cushioned boot socks.
The Oxley Fedora (Olive Green) Hicks & Brown

A versatile hat for all seasons, the Oxley Fedora is made from 100% wool felt and is water resistant.
Style tip: Throw on with a Barbour jacket, jeans and wellies for a countryside walk. Our Lady Katrine socks and scarf in Dark Olive will tone in beautifully and help to keep the winter chill at bay!
The Explorer Boot (Mahogany) Fairfax & Favour

An all-terrain, all-weather boot that’ll keep your feet dry, warm, and comfy. The Explorer boots are easy to clean and have a memory foam comfort sole. These boots are made for walkin’… and that’s just what they’ll do… One of these days these boots are gonna walk right into my shoe cupboard!
Style tip: These boots will look great with anything; from a jumper dress to skinny jeans and a shirt. Pair with Lady Glenmore socks and matching F&F tassels for equal parts chic and cosy.
Lady Harris Sock & Snood Set (Burnt Orange) House of Cheviot

It wouldn’t be a style guide without one of our own products! Orange is the colour of the season, and our new ladies cable socks and snood sets make a statement! Knitted, and hand finished in Hawick, our cosy cable set is the perfect addition to your autumnal shopping spree.
Psst! Enter TREAT10 at the checkout for 10% off until Halloween.
Style tip: A tailored tweed jacket, navy jeans, your favourite boots, and this luxury set. Sometimes less is more!
What’s on your new season wish list?
