Less Than 24 Hours Until Our Big Day!

Posted on 11th Aug 2017 Categories: Shooting

Six months ago, while chatting over coffee we decided (out of the blue) to organise House of Cheviot’s first event – a Ladies Day! Within a few excited and frantic minutes, we’d decided exactly what we wanted for the day:

  • When? Saturday 12th August – the company’s 15th birthday and the Glorious Twelfth (start of the grouse season). Perfect!
  • Where? Only the best for us! The Roxburghe Shooting School of Excellence. A beautiful place with the loveliest manager, Tracy.
  • What? Clay pigeon shooting of course! What else? Well, we couldn’t say no to tomahawk throwing. What better way to relieve stress and release some anger? Ladies, feel free to bring pictures of ex boyfriends to stick onto the target – guaranteed bullseye shot!

When we finally calmed down (many hours later) the enormity of the task hit us! What have we done? Why didn’t we think this through? When will we find time to organise everything? Tracy to the rescue! Having hosted many events through the years, she helped turn our ideas into a clear plan.

We want our Ladies Day to be a bit different so we’ve decided to have a BBQ instead of afternoon tea. Not just any BBQ though, a Chez Roux BBQ. The menu has been put together by the Michelin Star chefs Albert & Michel Roux and it sounds mouth-wateringly delicious. You can’t have a birthday celebration without cake, can you? A very talented baker is making us a special cake as we type so we’ll have to save room for a slice!

We’re quite a generous bunch here at House of Cheviot so we have goodie bags for all the attendees. A little thank you for supporting us! We’re proud Borderers so we sourced the very best local products - we can’t disclose what they are as it’ll ruin the surprise but can guarantee no one will be disappointed.

Prizes will be given for the Team Flush winners and Tomahawk Champion. The one we’re most excited about is the Best Dressed Competition. Sponsored by Emma Brown Tweed, the lucky winner will win a beautiful tweed jacket! Emma’s products are gorgeous (we’re lucky enough own some of her accessories) and we can’t thank her enough for the generous gift. Unfortunately, we’re exempt from entering but we’ll be judging. Time to channel Scherzy and Sharon Osborne!

There have been more than a few outfit dilemmas in the office leading up to this weekend. However, after careful consideration and numerous discussions, we’re the proud owners of Timothy Foxx tweed items. Different pieces and tweeds of course – we didn’t want to run the risk of turning up tomorrow wearing the same thing. Oh, the shame! Tonight will be pamper central in our households; manicures, tanning, face masks… We must be camera ready as photos from the event (taken by the talented Danny Moore) will be featuring in the next issue of Fieldsports Magazine. Fame at last!

We’ve had a blast working on this together and with Tracy who is so much fun. Who knows, it might be a yearly thing! Excitement (mixed with nerves) has hit fever pitch, tomorrow can’t come quick enough. Ladies, we’re looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow and those of you who aren’t attending, we’ll be filling your social media newsfeed with hundreds of selfies and pictures – YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Hopefully the weather is good, keep your fingers crossed for us!
